Alan Thomas, CAE, is Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Houston-based International Facility Management Association (IFMA). IFMA has 19,500 members located in 63 countries around the world.
Prior to joining the IFMA staff, Mr. Thomas was the Director of Business Strategy and Development at ProSys, Inc. He began his career in association management in 2001 at the Safety Council of the Louisiana Capitol Area, where he served as Executive Vice President.
In 2005, Mr. Thomas was awarded the Association Trends Young and Aspiring Leader Award. He has been featured in several magazines and is a published author and speaker on the topics of business strategy, leadership and organizational culture.
Mr. Thomas currently serves on the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau Advisory Board, as well as program advisory boards for Brigham Young University and the University of California at Berkeley. He previously served on the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Society of Association Executives, the Louisiana Chemical Association Governmental Affairs Committee and the Baton Rouge Area Drug and Alcohol Center.
Mr. Thomas holds a bachelor’s degree in Christian Education from the New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, and he is currently a student at Tulane University in the Executive MBA program.
