Tony Taylor is Vice President of New Business Development and Director of Strategic Planning for Emergent Technologies, Inc. (ETI) in Austin, Texas. ETI is a unique life sciences venture capital firm that forms and manages companies and funds that license and commercialize groundbreaking institutional and university-based technologies.

Mr. Taylor is responsible for performing market research to discover opportunities for ETI portfolio company technology applications, identifying potential collaborative partners and creating and implementing the marketing plan.

In 2004, Mr. Taylor was the principle investigator on a $2 million Advanced Technology Project award from the National Institute of Standards and Technology. The overall goal of the 3-year project was to develop a new class of breast cancer diagnostic and therapeutic antibodies unique in their ability to recognize tumor proteins presented by the body's natural antigen display systems.

In addition, Mr. Taylor has served in various capacities for Ethyl Chemical, Green Bay Packaging, Dow-Corning and Raytheon. He is also the founder of Fulcrum Chemicals, a specialty chemicals supplier, and has managed biotechnology companies developing novel immunotherapies and nanotechnology companies creating thin films.

He has also worked with the National Association of Seed and Venture Funds on a number of projects and has been a judge and speaker at several business plan competitions, including the World’s Best Technology Showcase, the University of Texas Moot Corp Competition, the Arkansas Venture Forum and the Tennessee Innovation Conference.

He has a B.S. and M.S. in Chemical Engineering from the University of Arkansas.
